Curator Bradley Quinn about the exhibition and Bleed:
100% Norway features the most dynamic areas of design in Norway today, where an exciting new generation is pioneering a fresh vision of contemporary living. As designers dare to rethink the meaning of traditional forms, they express the optimism of youth culture while capturing the classical elegance of the Nordic tradition. 100% Norway features sleek furniture, ceramics, textiles and glassware, along with streamlined architecture, digital design and cutting-edge graphics to signpost this inspiring new direction. While Norway has a long history of design excellence, the economic importance of the country’s oil reserves once appeared to overshadow its creative industries. Now Norwegian designers are moving far beyond their national borders to showcase a broad range of designs that suggest streamlined utility, yet take shape as functional objects that transcend their traditional purpose and meaning.
With a mandate to move beyond unimaginative imagery and mundane direction, Bleed build up an impressive international reputation as their bold graphic campaigns gained attention in Europe and North America. With an impressive client base of fashion designers, telecommunication firms, publishers and leading brands of alcohol and tobacco, Bleed’s distinctively global vision is redefining the visual language of today’s advertising and branding culture. Gauging that today’s clients often wish to be involved in the design process, Bleed create collaborative forums that encourage cross-disciplinary input into each project
